Teaching Assistant (TA)Position

In general Laboratory teaching assistant positions (class B) are available for Chemistry 1A03/1E03/1AA3 each Fall, Winter & Summer academic terms. Potential teaching assistants are welcome to submit an application with resume in anticipation of positions becoming available. 

There is an opening for the 2017 spring/summer term in Organic Chemistry 2OA3-2OB3.  Those interested should fill out the application for first year TA's in addition to submitting a resume.  Please note, any hiring is strictly dependent on enrollment numbers and no positions are guaranteed.


Official postings will occur on the bulletin board outside ABB 156.  Applications are due no later than Aug. 26th, 2017, c/o Linda Davis, ABB 121 ( Occasionally other TA positions may become available and notifications will appear on the CUPE website, this website and the departmental bulletin board.

Laboratory teaching assistants are required to supervise groups of 18-22 students during weekly three hour experiments (twice weekly during summer) over the course of the semester. Teaching assistants are also responsible for grading laboratory reports, attending weekly meetings and invigilating term tests when required.

Skills, Qualifications, Abilities and Experience – Required & Preferred:

 -       Only students not having completed an year undergraduate degree will be considered.

-         Students must have at minimum completed 5 chemistry courses (15 units), with 4 courses (12 units) having a laboratory component.

-         Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in a Chemistry or Chemical Biology program.
