McMaster University
Special Brockhouse Canada Prize Winner's Seminar Print E-mail

Dear Colleagues,

I’m writing to alert you all to this week’s departmental seminar, which will be given by one of our department’s distinguished alumni, Dr. Paul Schaffer of TRIUMF.  Paul is one of the co-winners of the 2014 Brockhouse Canada Prize for Interdisciplinary Research in Science and Engineering, along with our own John Valliant, who (as many of you will recall) was Paul’s MSc and PhD supervisor during his time in our department.  Paul was, in fact, John’s very first graduate student
The Brockhouse Canada Prize is one of NSERC’s most prestigious awards for science and engineering in this country, and winning it is a huge distinction for John, Paul, our department, and McMaster.  This week’s seminar is an opportunity for us to celebrate this remarkable achievement in a small way, and I very much hope that all of you who are able will join me in attending.  Faculty colleagues - please announce the event in your classes tomorrow and Thursday morning, and encourage our undergrad students to attend as well.  The poster is reproduced again below for any of you who may have missed it.  Please note the special time and location for the seminar - JHE 264 at 2:30 pm.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the seminar on Thursday.
Best regards,
William J. Leigh, Professor and Chair
