Facilities Awarded Health Canada License Print E-mail

It is with great excitement and pride that I am writing to inform you of the news we received late yesterday afternoon, that the Health Canada Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate has assigned us a rating of “Compliant for NMR and MS testing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)”, based on the results of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspection of our facilities that was carried out this past October - in simpler words, our department’s NMR and MS facilities have been awarded the Health Canada Drug Establishment License for GMP testing of APIs!

Few of you are aware of the full extent of the effort, commitment, and dedication that the members of our “GMP Testing Facility” have put into this landmark achievement.  To remind you, the staff members involved in this initiative and their roles in the GMP organization are:

Dan Sorensen, Quality Manager
Megan Fair, Quality Assurance Assistant
Bob Berno, Operations Manager, NMR
Kirk Green, Operations Manager, MS
Hilary Jenkins, Analyst
Steve Kornic, Analyst
Sujan Fernando, Analyst
Jane Garneau, Dispatcher
Linda Spruce, Dispatcher
Connie Carrabs, Dispatcher

We owe a special vote of thanks to Megan Fair and Dan Sorensen, who have shouldered much of the responsibility for driving this process forward over the last two years. They and their colleagues have accomplished something that no other academic lab in North America has accomplished, and they can all be justifiably proud of what they have done.

Well done gang!
